City advises of new date for critical electricity work in Area South, no supply disruption expected

The City’s Electricity Generation and Distribution Department reminds residents of critical overhead infrastructure upgrades scheduled for the city’s Area South this week. The work will take place from 22:00 on Friday, 1 November 2024 to 05:00 on Monday, 4 November 2024, depending on weather conditions. Residents will have electricity supply while the work is being carried out.
The critical overhead infrastructure supplies electricity to:
• Grassy Park
• Pelican Park
• Muizenberg
• Steenberg
• Sun Valley
• Clovelly
It is important to note that residents will have electricity supply while the work is being carried out. Residents are advised that electricity supply interruptions may occur while the work is being done. Sometimes, tripping can occur, among other things.
Residents are advised to check the City’s official communication channels, including the City’s social media channels, or contact the Call Centre for any updates on the upgrade work.
Some news channels could imply that this work could affect electricity supply to all areas in the city. This is not true.
The infrastructure upgrades will take place from:
• Friday, 1 November 2024 to 05:00 on Monday, 4 November 2024 and will not impact supply to residents.
